Today, Professor Molina also briefly presented the preliminary analyses on the relationship between abnormal experiences of the Self and the anatomical data of those brain regions normally most involved in its generation. We found a high positive correlation coefficien between the thinning of the cortex in the caudal cingulate region and the intensity of those abnormal Self experiences. On the other hand, the connectivity of these regions, measured with fractional anisotropy by diffusion resonance, was not related to these experiences. We will continue to examine these data as we expand the sample of cases with these available measures.
